The children's library, of course!
Yesterday a couple and her lawyer came in to the children's library the to hammer out the gruesome details of their divorce. It is not at all unusual for people to conduct meetings at the library. It is public, neutral, and free. On several occasions I have had social workers with clients, discussing child issues or supervising visits.
This little threesome had not been there a full sixty seconds when the man got belligerent and started getting all sarcastic and loud. He was swearing and getting dangerously red in the face. I got my supervisor, who asked them to relocate to the adult part of the library. They didn't. Honestly. Fortunately, there were no children in there on a cloudy Monday morning, but there is a principle here that seems obvious to me.
Maybe for their next meeting they could go to the playground.
